Attabad Lake Tour Packages
Boating, jet skiing and lakeside resorts on Hunza's famous turquoise lake.
Where is Attabad Lake and what can you do there?
Attabad Lake is a turquoise lake in Gojal, upper Hunza, formed by a landslide in 2010 that dammed the Hunza River. It is about 30–40 minutes' drive from Karimabad on the Karakoram Highway, and offers boating, jet skiing and lakeside resorts. Pakistan Travellers includes it on every Hunza package.
- Pairs naturally with Karimabad, Passu Cones and a Khunjerab Pass day trip.
- Accessible year-round; the colour is most intense in summer sunlight.
- Lakeside hotels are limited in number — worth booking ahead in peak season.
Our Attabad Lake tour packages take you to the most photographed spot in the Karakoram — a startlingly turquoise lake in Gojal, upper Hunza, ringed by sheer mountain walls. Formed by a landslide in 2010, Attabad Lake is now the region's favourite spot for boating, jet skiing and lakeside stays, and pairs perfectly with Karimabad, the Passu Cones and a Khunjerab Pass day trip.
What an Attabad Lake tour covers
Most travellers visit Attabad Lake as part of a wider Hunza itinerary of 5 to 7 days. A typical trip pairs Karimabad's Baltit and Altit forts with a day in Gojal — a boat ride or jet ski on Attabad Lake, the Passu Cones and Glacier, and the Hussaini suspension bridge. Many packages also add a day trip up to Khunjerab Pass on the Pakistan–China border.
Things to do at the lake
The lake itself is the activity — hire a speedboat or a traditional wooden boat, try jet skiing, or simply relax at a lakeside resort with the water glowing turquoise below the peaks. The drive there through the Attabad tunnels and along the Karakoram Highway is spectacular in its own right, and Passu is just a short drive further on.
Best time to visit Attabad Lake
Attabad Lake is beautiful year-round, but the water is at its most vivid turquoise from spring through autumn (April to October). Summer is warm and ideal for boating; autumn adds golden poplar trees along the shore. In winter the setting is quieter and dusted with snow, though some boat operators scale back. See our best time to visit Hunza guide to match your trip to the season.
How much does an Attabad Lake tour cost?
Attabad Lake is included within a wider Hunza package rather than sold on its own. By-road Hunza tours that cover Attabad, Karimabad and Passu start from around PKR 217,000 for a couple — about PKR 108,500 each — with Executive and Luxury lakeside stays costing more. Boat rides and jet ski charges at the lake are a small local cost, which we include or explain up front. Your final price depends on group size, season, hotel tier and how many Gojal add-ons you choose.

Most Hunza trips are fully customised
We rarely sell a fixed, off-the-shelf tour. Instead we build each itinerary around your dates, group size, pace and budget — and confirm hotels based on live availability for your travel window. Your total package cost comes down to just two choices:
A private 4×4 with a trained mountain driver, sized to your group. For a smooth, comfortable mountain journey we usually recommend the Toyota Prado TZ, though the full range — from sedans to Land Cruisers, Grand Cabins and Coasters — is available depending on your group size.
Choose from four tiers — Standard, Executive, Luxury and Premium. Same route, elevated comfort at each step. Premium and 5★ stays such as Shangrila, Broqand other resorts deliver the best locations and views; these raise the total but are worth it for a special trip.
