Gilgit-Baltistan is not a destination you can operate from a desk. Roads close without notice, high passes open and shut with the snow line, and the difference between a good hotel and a bad one changes hands between seasons. The operators worth booking are the ones with people actually living there.

What to check before you book a GB trip

Four questions cut through most marketing. Whose vehicle is it, and is it exclusively yours? How long has the driver worked these specific roads? What exactly is included in writing — transport, hotels, meals, tolls, fuel, driver allowance, entry fees? And who answers the phone at 9pm when the Skardu flight is cancelled?

An operator that answers all four crisply is worth more than one quoting a slightly lower price. In the mountains, the cheap option usually turns out to be a shared coach, a driver from the plains, and a bill for the things you assumed were covered.

The routes we run

Hunza Valley — Karimabad, Baltit and Altit forts, Attabad Lake, Passu Cones and Khunjerab Pass at 4,693 m on the Chinese border. Skardu — Shangrila, Upper Kachura, Shigar, Khaplu and the Deosai plains above 4,000 m. Fairy Meadows — the jeep track from Raikot Bridge and the walk up to the Nanga Parbat base camp viewpoint. Naltar for its coloured lakes, and Astore, Ghizer, Phander and Shandur for travellers who want fewer people.

Altitude, seasons and honest expectations

Khunjerab reaches 4,693 m and Deosai sits above 4,000 m. Most travellers feel nothing worse than mild breathlessness when the itinerary gains height gradually — which is why we build the ascent in rather than driving straight up. Anyone with heart, lung or altitude concerns should tell us in advance so we can adjust the route.

We will also tell you when a plan does not work. Khunjerab in January, Deosai before the snow melts, or a four-day Skardu road trip are things we will advise against rather than sell. An itinerary that fails in the mountains is worse for us than a booking we did not take.

By air or by road

The Islamabad–Skardu flight is one of the great short flights anywhere — Nanga Parbat sits off the wing — and it saves two days each way. It is also weather-dependent and cancels at short notice. We book flights as part of by-air packages and rebook you on the next departure if one cancels. The road journey is available if you would rather not wait, charged separately from the package.

Booking and payment

Send your dates and group size on WhatsApp for a written quote — we usually reply within 30 minutes. Bookings are confirmed with a 30% advance to reserve hotels and the vehicle; the remaining 70% is due at least 3 days before departure. Quotes and availability are handled over WhatsApp, usually within 30 minutes. You receive a PNR with every confirmed booking, trackable online with the email you booked with, and a receipt for every payment.
