Babusar Top tour — high mountain pass road with green meadows and snow peaks

Babusar Top Tour

The 4,173 m gateway between Kaghan and the Karakoram — Pakistan's most scenic summer pass.

Published June 18, 2026 Pakistan Travellers Team 5 min read

Babusar Top is the dramatic high point of the Kaghan Valley — a 4,173 m mountain pass that links Naran to the Karakoram Highway near Chilas, and the summer gateway to Hunza and the north. The drive up passes Lulusar Lake and open meadows, and the top offers snow patches even in summer and views across a sea of peaks. Our tours make it an easy, safe day from Naran or a scenic crossing on the way north.

About Babusar Top

At 4,173 m, Babusar is the highest point on the Naran–Chilas road and one of the most beautiful passes in Pakistan. The approach from Naran passes the deep-blue Lulusar Lake and the Babusar meadows, and the summit is often dotted with snow, food stalls and travellers enjoying the thin, crisp air and 360° mountain views.

How to get there

Babusar Top is about 70 km beyond Naran, roughly a 2.5–3 hour drive up the valley. Many travellers cross it on the way to Hunza and the Karakoram Highway. Our packages include comfortable transport with an experienced mountain driver for the winding, high-altitude road.

Best time to visit

Babusar Pass is only open in summer — roughly late June to September — as snow closes it the rest of the year. July–August is the safest window with the clearest roads. Even in summer the top is cold, so warm layers are essential.

Tour packages

Babusar is usually part of a Naran-Kaghan tour or the scenic route to Hunza. A day trip from Naran covers Lulusar Lake and the pass; longer trips continue over the top toward Chilas and Gilgit Baltistan. We tailor the itinerary to your dates, group and onward plans.

What's included

  • Private transport with a trained mountain driver (Coaster/van for larger groups)
  • Handpicked hotels — Standard, Executive, Luxury or Premium on request
  • Daily breakfast
  • Fuel, toll taxes & driver allowance
  • Expert local guide & 24/7 on-trip support

Not included

  • Lunch & dinner
  • Personal expenses (shopping, tips, etc.)
  • Extra activities (boating, jet ski, chairlifts)
  • Travel insurance & air tickets (unless a by-air package)
BUILT AROUND YOU

Most Babusar Top trips are fully customised

We rarely sell a fixed, off-the-shelf tour. Instead we build each itinerary around your dates, group size, pace and budget — and confirm hotels based on live availability for your travel window. Your total package cost comes down to just two choices:

1 · Your vehicle

A private 4×4 with a trained mountain driver, sized to your group. For a smooth, comfortable mountain journey we usually recommend the Toyota Prado TZ, though the full range — from sedans to Land Cruisers, Grand Cabins and Coasters — is available depending on your group size.

2 · Your hotel standard

Choose from four tiers — Standard, Executive, Luxury and Premium. Same route, elevated comfort at each step. Premium and 5★ stays such as Shangrila, Broqand other resorts deliver the best locations and views; these raise the total but are worth it for a special trip.
