Ratti Gali Lake tour — glacial blue alpine lake surrounded by snow peaks in Neelum Valley

Ratti Gali Lake Tour

A high alpine jewel above Dowarian — glacial blue waters ringed by snow peaks.

Published June 18, 2026 Pakistan Travellers Team 5 min read

Ratti Gali Lake is the crown jewel of the Neelum Valley — a glacial alpine lake at around 3,700 m above Dowarian, its water shifting from deep blue to turquoise beneath a ring of snow peaks and, in early summer, blooming meadows. Reached by a rough and thrilling 4x4 jeep track and a short trek, it is a bucket-list destination for adventure travellers. Our tours arrange the jeep, guide and Neelum itinerary.

About Ratti Gali Lake

Sitting at roughly 3,700 m, Ratti Gali is fed by surrounding glaciers and famous for its intense colours and the carpet of wildflowers that surrounds it in July. It is higher and wilder than most Kashmir lakes, so the air is thin and cool even in summer — part of what makes reaching it feel like a real achievement.

How to reach Ratti Gali

From Dowarian in the Neelum Valley, a rough 4x4 jeep track climbs toward a base camp, followed by a short but steep trek to the lake. The jeep ride is an adventure in itself and needs an experienced local driver. Our packages include the jeep transfer and a guide for the final walk.

Best time to visit

Ratti Gali is a short-season, high-summer destination — roughly July to early September, once the snow clears the track and the meadows bloom. Outside this window snow blocks access. We time trips carefully for the safe, open window.

Tour packages

Ratti Gali is the adventurous highlight of a Neelum Valley tour, usually a 5–6 day trip with Keran, Sharda, Kel and Arang Kel. Cost depends on group size and hotels; the jeep transfer is a fixed local rate we include. Tell us your dates and group for a quote.

What's included

  • Private transport with a trained mountain driver (Coaster/van for larger groups)
  • Handpicked hotels — Standard, Executive, Luxury or Premium on request
  • Daily breakfast
  • Fuel, toll taxes & driver allowance
  • Expert local guide & 24/7 on-trip support

Not included

  • Lunch & dinner
  • Personal expenses (shopping, tips, etc.)
  • Extra activities (boating, jet ski, chairlifts)
  • Travel insurance & air tickets (unless a by-air package)
BUILT AROUND YOU

Most Ratti Gali Lake trips are fully customised

We rarely sell a fixed, off-the-shelf tour. Instead we build each itinerary around your dates, group size, pace and budget — and confirm hotels based on live availability for your travel window. Your total package cost comes down to just two choices:

1 · Your vehicle

A private 4×4 with a trained mountain driver, sized to your group. For a smooth, comfortable mountain journey we usually recommend the Toyota Prado TZ, though the full range — from sedans to Land Cruisers, Grand Cabins and Coasters — is available depending on your group size.

2 · Your hotel standard

Choose from four tiers — Standard, Executive, Luxury and Premium. Same route, elevated comfort at each step. Premium and 5★ stays such as Shangrila, Broqand other resorts deliver the best locations and views; these raise the total but are worth it for a special trip.
