Arang Kel tour — green meadow village on a plateau above Kel in Neelum Valley

Arang Kel Tour

The picture-perfect meadow village above Kel — chairlift, trek and green Kashmir at its finest.

Published June 18, 2026 Pakistan Travellers Team 5 min read

Arang Kel is often called the most beautiful village in Azad Kashmir — a green meadow plateau perched high above Kel in the upper Neelum Valley, with wooden houses, grazing meadows and forest all around. Reached by a short chairlift across the river and a scenic trek (or pony ride) up, it feels like a storybook. Our tours arrange the long Neelum drive, the Kel base stay and the chairlift-and-trek transfer.

About Arang Kel

Perched on a plateau above Kel at around 2,700 m, Arang Kel is a cluster of wooden homes set in wide green meadows framed by pine forest and peaks. It is a place to slow down — walk the meadows, watch the sunset and stay a night in a simple guesthouse. The setting is among the most photogenic in all of Kashmir.

How to reach Arang Kel

First reach Kel in the upper Neelum Valley — a long day's drive from Muzaffarabad. From Kel, a short chairlift (or cable trolley) crosses the Neelum river, followed by a 30–45 minute uphill trek or pony ride to the village. Our packages arrange the Kel stay, the chairlift and the transfer.

Best time to visit

Summer (June–September) is the season — the meadows are greenest and the trek is comfortable. Autumn adds golden tones. Winter buries Arang Kel in snow and access is very limited, so we run trips in the warm months.

Tour packages

Arang Kel is the highlight of an upper Neelum Valley tour, usually 4–6 days with Keran, Sharda and Kel, and optionally Ratti Gali Lake. Cost depends on group size and hotels. Tell us your dates and group for an all-in quote.

  • Daily breakfast
  • Fuel, toll taxes & driver allowance

Not included

  • Lunch & dinner
  • Personal expenses (shopping, tips, etc.)
  • Extra activities (boating, jet ski, chairlifts)
  • Travel insurance & air tickets (unless a by-air package)
BUILT AROUND YOU

Most Arang Kel trips are fully customised

We rarely sell a fixed, off-the-shelf tour. Instead we build each itinerary around your dates, group size, pace and budget — and confirm hotels based on live availability for your travel window. Your total package cost comes down to just two choices:

1 · Your vehicle

A private 4×4 with a trained mountain driver, sized to your group. For a smooth, comfortable mountain journey we usually recommend the Toyota Prado TZ, though the full range — from sedans to Land Cruisers, Grand Cabins and Coasters — is available depending on your group size.

2 · Your hotel standard

Choose from four tiers — Standard, Executive, Luxury and Premium. Same route, elevated comfort at each step. Premium and 5★ stays such as Shangrila, Broqand other resorts deliver the best locations and views; these raise the total but are worth it for a special trip.
