Kumrat Valley Tour Packages

Towering deodar forests, the Panjkora River and the Kumrat waterfall in upper Dir.

Quick answer

Where is Kumrat Valley and what is it known for?

Kumrat Valley lies in upper Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, about 8–10 hours from Islamabad. It is known for dense deodar forests, the Panjkora River, the Kumrat waterfall and the high meadow of Jahaz Banda. It is wilder and greener than the northern valleys, and popular for camping and river-side stays.

  • 3–4 days is enough; the final stretch needs a 4x4 jeep.
  • Jahaz Banda meadow is a further trek or jeep ride beyond Kumrat itself.
  • Best from May to September; accommodation is mostly camps and wooden huts.

Our Kumrat Valley tour packages take you deep into the cathedral-like deodar forests of upper Dir — the rushing Panjkora River, the famous Kumrat waterfall, and the high meadow of Jahaz Banda. Wilder and greener than the better-known valleys, Kumrat is a favourite for camping, families and anyone craving real forest and river scenery.

What a Kumrat package covers

A typical 3 to 5 day trip drives up through Dir to Thal and into Kumrat, with riverside camping or cabins, the Kumrat waterfall, and a jeep-and-trek excursion to the Jahaz Banda meadows and Katora Lake. The forest drive along the Panjkora is the highlight in itself.

Best time to visit Kumrat

Kumrat is best from May to early October, when the forest is lush and the tracks to Jahaz Banda are open. Summer is cool and green; nights are chilly even in July, so warm layers are essential for camping.

How much does a Kumrat Valley tour cost?

Kumrat is quoted on request rather than sold as a fixed package, because the road, the camping and the season change what it costs. Like every trip we run, it is priced for the whole group rather than per head, with camping or simple cabins, transport and a guide. Tell us your dates, party size and pick-up city and we send a precise figure, usually within 30 minutes.

What's included in the price

Packages include transport from your pick-up city, the local 4x4 transfer into Kumrat, riverside camping or cabin accommodation, meals as stated, and a guide. The Jahaz Banda jeep-and-pony excursion, extra nights and personal expenses are usually additional — every quote comes with a clear inclusions list.

What's included

  • Private transport with a trained mountain driver (Coaster/van for larger groups)
  • Handpicked hotels — Standard, Executive, Luxury or Premium on request
  • Daily breakfast
  • Fuel, toll taxes & driver allowance
  • Expert local guide & 24/7 on-trip support

Not included

  • Lunch & dinner
  • Personal expenses (shopping, tips, etc.)
  • Extra activities (boating, jet ski, chairlifts)
  • Travel insurance & air tickets (unless a by-air package)
BUILT AROUND YOU

Most Kumrat Valley trips are fully customised

We rarely sell a fixed, off-the-shelf tour. Instead we build each itinerary around your dates, group size, pace and budget — and confirm hotels based on live availability for your travel window. Your total package cost comes down to just two choices:

1 · Your vehicle

A private 4×4 with a trained mountain driver, sized to your group. For a smooth, comfortable mountain journey we usually recommend the Toyota Prado TZ, though the full range — from sedans to Land Cruisers, Grand Cabins and Coasters — is available depending on your group size.

2 · Your hotel standard

Choose from four tiers — Standard, Executive, Luxury and Premium. Same route, elevated comfort at each step. Premium and 5★ stays such as Shangrila, Broqand other resorts deliver the best locations and views; these raise the total but are worth it for a special trip.
