Banjosa Lake Tour

A serene pine-ringed lake above Rawalakot — still water, forest and Poonch valley calm.

Published June 18, 2026 Pakistan Travellers Team 5 min read

Banjosa Lake is a tranquil, pine-ringed lake about 18 km above Rawalakot in the Poonch region of Azad Kashmir — an artificial lake set in a cool forest tourist resort, loved for boating, calm walks and its mirror-still water. Away from the crowds of the bigger valleys, it is a peaceful family and honeymoon spot. Our tours combine Banjosa with Toli Pir and the Poonch valley, with transport and hotels arranged.

About Banjosa Lake

Set at around 1,980 m amid dense pine forest, Banjosa is a calm, scenic lake with boating, a rest house and forest walks. Its still surface reflects the surrounding trees, and the cool, quiet setting makes it a relaxing escape rather than a busy hill station. It pairs well with the nearby Toli Pir meadows.

How to get there

Banjosa is about 18 km from Rawalakot, which is roughly 4–5 hours from Islamabad via Kahuta or Azad Pattan. The final stretch is a forest road. Our packages include comfortable transport for the full journey.

Best time to visit

Summer (May–September) is best — green, cool and perfect for boating and walks. Autumn is quiet and colourful, and winter can bring light snow. Spring is fresh and green. We plan around the season and roads.

Tour packages

Banjosa is usually a 2–3 day Poonch tour with Rawalakot and Toli Pir. We arrange forest-side stays, transport and boating. Tell us your dates and group for an all-in quote from Islamabad or Lahore.

  • Daily breakfast
  • Fuel, toll taxes & driver allowance
  • Expert local guide & 24/7 on-trip support

Not included

  • Lunch & dinner
  • Personal expenses (shopping, tips, etc.)
  • Extra activities (boating, jet ski, chairlifts)
  • Travel insurance & air tickets (unless a by-air package)
BUILT AROUND YOU

Most Banjosa Lake trips are fully customised

We rarely sell a fixed, off-the-shelf tour. Instead we build each itinerary around your dates, group size, pace and budget — and confirm hotels based on live availability for your travel window. Your total package cost comes down to just two choices:

1 · Your vehicle

A private 4×4 with a trained mountain driver, sized to your group. For a smooth, comfortable mountain journey we usually recommend the Toyota Prado TZ, though the full range — from sedans to Land Cruisers, Grand Cabins and Coasters — is available depending on your group size.

2 · Your hotel standard

Choose from four tiers — Standard, Executive, Luxury and Premium. Same route, elevated comfort at each step. Premium and 5★ stays such as Shangrila, Broqand other resorts deliver the best locations and views; these raise the total but are worth it for a special trip.
