Best Time to Visit Hunza Valley in 2026

A month-by-month guide to picking the perfect window for cherry blossoms, autumn colours, or snow.

Hunza is a year-round destination, but the experience changes completely with the seasons. This guide breaks down the best time to visit Hunza Valley month by month — from the famous spring blossom to golden autumn and snowy winter — so you can match your trip to exactly what you want to see.

Spring (March–May): Blossom Season

Spring is the most photogenic time in Hunza. From late March to mid-April, cherry, apricot and almond blossoms wash the terraced valleys in pink and white, with snow still capping the surrounding peaks. Days are cool and crisp, and the crowds are smaller than in summer.

Blossom timing shifts a little each year with the weather, so build in a few days of flexibility if the blossom is your main goal.

Summer (June–August): Peak Season & High Passes

Summer is the busiest and most accessible season, with warm, pleasant days. This is the only reliable window to drive up to Khunjerab Pass on the Pakistan–China border, and the best time for Attabad Lake, Naltar Valley and longer onward trips toward Skardu.

Book hotels and flights early — July and August fill up fast across Northern Pakistan.

Autumn (September–November): Golden Hunza

Many travellers call autumn the most beautiful season of all. From mid-October into November the poplars and orchards turn brilliant gold and red, the skies are clear, and the harvest is in full swing. It is ideal for photography and quieter than peak summer.

Winter (December–February): Snow & Solitude

Winter brings snow, deep quiet and dramatic scenery. Hunza remains accessible, but it is very cold, some side roads can be tricky, and Khunjerab Pass is closed by snow. It suits travellers who want solitude and a snowy landscape rather than high-altitude excursions.
