These photographs are from our own tours across Gilgit-Baltistan and the wider north of Pakistan — shot on the road by our guides and travellers, not stock images. They are here to show you honestly what the valleys actually look like through the seasons, so you know what to expect before you book. Below the gallery is a short guide to the places you are looking at.
What you're looking at
Hunza Valley gives you the postcard shots — Karimabad with the Baltit and Altit forts, the turquoise sheet of Attabad Lake, the jagged Passu Cones, and the sunrise from Duikar with Rakaposhi catching the first light. Skardu and Baltistan are wider and starker — the Shangrila and Kachura lakes, the Katpana cold desert, Shigar and Khaplu forts, and the vast wildflower plateau of the Deosai Plains with Sheosar Lake. Fairy Meadows photographs are taken at around 3,300 metres, facing Nanga Parbat — the world's ninth-highest mountain. The green alpine meadow, the pine forest and the Killer Mountain at sunrise are the highlights of our Fairy Meadows tour. You will also see frames from the Naran-Kaghan valley, Swat, Naltar's rainbow lakes and the Pak-China border at Khunjerab Pass.
