1. 1Day 1:Arrival & Skardu Sightseeing

   We meet your flight at Skardu airport. The first stop is the Indus viewpoint above the town, where the river runs wide and grey between the ranges and you get a sense of how large this valley actually is. Then Shangrila and Upper Kachura while the light holds, and the evening free for Skardu bazaar. The flight is weather dependent; timings and routing may change according to the airline.

2. 2Day 2:Shigar Valley & Cold Desert

   An hour north to Shigar, where the restored raja's fort stands over the village and you can walk the courtyards whether or not you are staying in it. The afternoon belongs to Sarfaranga, a cold desert at altitude where the dunes sit under snow peaks, and the jeep safari across it is the part most couples remember. Blind Lake on the way back.

3. 3Day 3:Kharmang Valley & Waterfalls

   Two and a half hours south along the Indus into Kharmang. Manthokha is the tall one and the reason most people come; Hussainabad is smaller and usually quieter. Between them the road passes Chocolate Rock and the Sermik valley, both worth stopping for. A long day in the vehicle but an easy one on foot, since nothing here needs more than a short walk.

4. 4Day 4:Departure

   Breakfast, checkout and the drive to the airport. Skardu departures cancel on weather as readily as arrivals do, so we keep your vehicle with you until you are actually checked in rather than dropping you at the terminal and leaving. If you have an onward connection out of Islamabad the same day, tell us before you book and we will suggest a buffer night. Weather dependent; timings and routing may change according to the airline.
